Alaska Driving Permits
In order to get a driving permit in Alaska, you must pass a written test and
vision test. In Alaska you do not need to do Drivers ED, however, you must
pass the written Exam.
Requirements for a learners Permit are:
- Must be at least 14 years of age
- Must have a social security Card or proof of Social Security Number
- A valid form of Identification (Birth Certificate)
- Parental Consent
- Payment for the required Vision and Written Test
However, Alaska's Permits come with Restrictions:
- When you first get your permit, you may practice driving only with an
adult (21 years or older) with a valid Drivers License. - He or she must also be close enough to take control, in case of an
emergency.

After 6 months with a permit you may apply for a Drivers license.
In order to get a Drivers License you need to:
- Have had your permit for 6 months
- Be at least 14 1/2 years old
- Pass a Drug Awareness Test
- Pass a Written Exam
- Pass a Behind the Wheel Course
- Have parental consent
- Valid form of Identification
- Lastly, Payment for all the given tests and a new license
