District of Columbia Driving Permits

Getting a Driving Permit in DC is awfully easy if you have all the requirements.

Requirements for a Learners Permits are:

  • Must be at least 16 years old
  • Valid Birth Certificate
  • Valid Social Security card or proof of social security
  • Proof of DC residency
  • Signed Parental Consent Form
  • Must Pass a Knowledge and Vision Test

Restrictions:

  • Must have parent or adult 21 years or older with a valid license with you.
  • Cannot operate an Electronic Device while driving.
  • Cannot be payed for driving
  • Cannot drive later than 9 PM

 

Requirements for a Provisional License:

  • Must have held permit for at least 6 months
  • Must have completed 40 hours of driving
  • Must have Certification for Eligibility Signed
  • Must Take and Pass Road Skills Test

 

Restrictions:

  • Cannot Drive later than 10 or 11 PM depending on whether it is a weekday or weekend.
