Delaware Driving Permits

Introduction:

In order to get a drivers permit in Delaware, you must attend and graduate a

Drivers ED course. Choosing the correct driving school is important

because it can be the difference between fun and boring

Requirements for a Learners Permit are

  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Pass one of Delaware's certified Driver Education Courses and

    present the certificate
  • Social Security Number
  • Birth Certificate
  • Parental Consent and Signatures
  • $25 Fee for Class D license

Restrictions

  • May not drive without supervision for first 6 months
  • Permit must always be with the student
  • Must drive Supervised between 10 PM and 6 AM after first 6 months

    (unless emergency, extracurricular activity, church, etc)

Full Driving Privileges

A citizen of Delaware may only apply for a full Class D license after he or she

is 17 and has had their permit for 12 months.

The student must also have no infractions and maintained a clean driving

record.
