Hawaii Driving Permits

Getting a Drivers Permit in Hawaii is relatively easy.

Requirements for Drivers Permit:

  • Certified Birth Certificate
  • Must be at least 15 1/2 years of age
  • Social Security Card
  • $10 Dollar Licensing Fee
  • Parental Consent and Signature
  • Pass a Vision and Written Exam

However you must drive with a licensed adult 21 years or older at all times.

Requirements for a Provisional License are:

  • An individual must have had their permit for at least 6 months
  • Social Security Card
  • Certified Birth Certificate
  • Must have successfully completed a Driver ED course and must be

    enrolled in a certified Behind The Wheel Training Course
  • Must have completed 40 hours of Behind The Wheel Training with an

    adult (6 of which are at night).
  • $10 Testing Fee

However, you may only drive between 5AM and 11PM without a licensed

adult.

Until an individual is 18 years of age, he or she may not apply for a class 3

License.
