Hawaii Driving Permits
Getting a Drivers Permit in Hawaii is relatively easy.
Requirements for Drivers Permit:
- Certified Birth Certificate
- Must be at least 15 1/2 years of age
- Social Security Card
- $10 Dollar Licensing Fee
- Parental Consent and Signature
- Pass a Vision and Written Exam
However you must drive with a licensed adult 21 years or older at all times.

Requirements for a Provisional License are:
- An individual must have had their permit for at least 6 months
- Social Security Card
- Certified Birth Certificate
- Must have successfully completed a Driver ED course and must be
enrolled in a certified Behind The Wheel Training Course - Must have completed 40 hours of Behind The Wheel Training with an
adult (6 of which are at night). - $10 Testing Fee
However, you may only drive between 5AM and 11PM without a licensed
adult.
Until an individual is 18 years of age, he or she may not apply for a class 3
License.
