Why do I need it?
The International Driving Permit is important in countries one is not familiar in. It gives a translation that local police or traffic enforcers can read. In addition, many countries will not let someone rent a car if they do not have an IDP. Furthermore, having an IDP in a foreign country can help lower insurance costs if one rents a car.
Lastly, it helps one prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

Where do I get it?
An individual can only obtain an International Driving Permit in the country of origin. For example, if one is a US citizen, one can only apply within the United States.
