Kansas Driving Permits

Kansas implements a Graduated License Program for young teens. It allows steady progression into an unrestricted License.

Requirements for first tier

  • Instruction Permit Restricted Drivers License Unrestricted Driving License
  • Requirements for an Instruction Permit
  • Must be at least 14 years old
  • Certified copy of your Birth Certificate
  • Valid Social Security Card
  • Photo Identification
  • Parental / Guardian Consent and signature
  • Cash Payment for fees and tests
  • Both Written and Vision tests are required

Restrictions:

  • Must drive with a licensed immediate family member or adult 21 years or older

Requirements for a Restricted License

  • Must be 15 years old
  • Must have had instruction permit for at least 6 months
  • Certified copy of your birth Certificate
  • Valid Social Security Card
  • Proof of school Enrollment
  • Photo identification Parental / Guardian consent and signature
  • Must pass a written test, vision, and driving test.
  • Must have completed a certified Iowa Drivers ED course and have done at least 20 hours of supervised driving.
  • Drivers Education Slip Required
  • Completed at least 25 hours of supervised driving. However, an individual must show 50 hours of supervised driving (10 of which are at night) before they turn 16

Restrictions

Can only drive to / from School,work, or a farm-related activity.

 

Requirements for an Unrestricted License:

  • Must be at least 16 years old
  • Must have had their learner permit for at least 60 days
  • Certified copy of your birth Certificate
  • Valid Social Security Card
  • Proof of school Enrollment
  • Photo identification
  • Parental / Guardian consent and signature
  • Must pass Vision, written, and Road skill test.
  • And have all the additional requirements of a Restricted License Restrictions Regular license
