Louisiana Driving Permits
It's very simple to get a Permit in Louisiana, all you need is the required forms and to pass both a vision and written test.
However, if you are younger than 18, you must follow Louisiana's Graduate License Program. They are:
- Instruction Permit
- Intermediate License
- Drivers License
Requirements for an instructional Permit
- Must be at least 15 years of age
- Valid Social Security Card
- Valid Birth Certificate
- Parental consent and signature if under the age of 18
- Pass both a vision and written test
- Show proof of residency
- Complete 36 hours of Drivers ED
- Be enrolled for a 6 hour behind the wheel training course
Restrictions
- Must drive with a licensed adult 21 years or older
- Cannot drive more than one passenger under the age of 20, unless they are immediate family members
- Cannot drive between 11P and 5 AM
Requirements for a Intermediate License
- Must have had a permit for at least 180 days
- Must pass a Road Skills Test
- Must have had 50 hours of Supervised driving (10 of which are at night)
- Valid Social Security Card
- Valid Birth Certificate
- Proof of Identification
- Show proof of residency
- Pass a vision, written and motor skills test.
Restrictions
- Cannot drive between 11PM and 5 AM unless accompanied by a licensed adult 21 years or older.
Requirements for a Full License
- Must be 18 years of age
- Pass vision, written, and Road skills test
- Valid Social Security Card
- Valid Birth Certificate
- Show proof of residency
Restrictions
