Tennessee Driving Permits
Getting a drivers permit in Tennessee is relatively easy. Basically all you need is the required forms and papers.
Requirements for a Learner Permit
- You must be at least 15 years old
- Appear in person at a driver's license examination station.
- Present a valid birth certificate or other acceptable identification
- Must present two proofs of Tennessee Residency
- Proof of School Attendance / Progress
- Pass a written test
- Pass a vision test
- Have Parent Consent or Signature on application.
- Pay the required fees
Restrictions
- Must drive with a licensed adult 18 years or older
Requirements for an Intermediate Drivers License
- You must be at least 16 years old.
- Must have held a permit for at least 180 days
- Appear in person at a driver's license examination station.
- Present a valid birth certificate or other acceptable identification.
- Must present two proofs of Tennessee Residency
- Pass a Road Test
- Parental Consent and Signature
- Must have completed 50 hours of supervised driving (10 at night)
- Pay the required fees
Restrictions
- Cannot have more than one passenger under 18 years of age (Unless Immediate Family Members)
- Cannot drive between Midnight and 5AM unsupervised unless for an emergency / work related situation
Requirements for a Full License
- Must be at least 18 Years old
- Must present two proofs of Tennessee Residency
- Pass a written test
- Pass a Vision Test
- Pass a road test
- Appear in person at a drivers license examination Station
- Present a valid birth certificate
- Valid Social Security Number
- Pay a $35 Fee
